Frequently
Asked Questions
Q: Why
would we choose theclasslist when there
are many off- the-shelf
web authoring programs available?
A:
theclasslist
is specifically designed for schools and the people
who run schools. Because
theclasslist is an on-line program, you
and your staff can access and make changes
to your site anywhere
there is an Internet connection using our simple
Content Management tools.
Q:
Do we want this type of system if we already have
a skilled IT person available
to us at our school?
A:
Your computer
experts will enjoy working with theclasslist
because it is both sophisticated
and easy to maintain. Plus, if your
computer expert is the "super-administrator"
for the program, he or
she can add administrators to share much of the
responsibility of keeping
the site updated and useful.
Q: Will
there be advertising on our school website?
A:
That is entirely up to your school. theclasslist
includes a Sponsorship
Tool that allows your school to place ads or logos
on the site but
that is controlled completely by each school.
Just as you sell
ad space in Football Programs and Playbills, convince
local businesses to support your school by adding
their logo to the
school site.
Q: Is
it possible to post student grades on theclasslist?
A: All
of the information that you put in your school
website using theclasslist
ends up in the public domain, therefore no student
specific information is
stored in theclasslist system. However,
theclasslist can and
should be the portal to all of your web based
software including on-line grading systems,
on-line attendance systems
and any other parent accessible student information
systems available through the internet. Simply
create a link to your
on-line grading system that allows the parents
to log in securely to view their child's information.
No longer will your parents
need to remember a plethora of urls. One
spot, your school site, will easily allow your
parents to navigate through
all of the valuable web based tools that your
school has invested so
much time and money into.
Q: What
will our school website address be?
A: When you sign
up for a theclasslist website, your default
url will be a directory
of www.theclasslist.com (i.e. www.theclasslist.com/myschool).
If you already have a domain name
registered, we can assist you in getting that
pointed correctly to your
new school site. Most domain registration companies
offer url forwarding that will easily direct the
web traffic to your new
site. Otherwise, contact theclasslist Customer
Service and we can help you through the
process. Costs necessary
for url forwarding and domain registration vary.
Q:
Can an entire school district use theclasslist?
A: Yes. We
have some small districts that maintain one site
for all of the schools
and we have larger districts that maintain a district
site and a separate site for each school within
the district. Our Sales
representatives can help you through that decision
making process that makes most sense for your
district.
