8th Grade U.S. History
Course Description
In this class we will be studying many interesting people, places, events, and concepts that shaped the history of our nation. As Christians we can view history as God's plan being worked out in creation. Much of our focus and attention will connect and point to our Washington D.C. trip in March. We use Houghton Mifflin's "A More Perfect Union" as our textbook. Here is a brief outline of our course of study:
Unit 1: Introduction to History and Review of Exploration and Colonization Unit 2: Revolutionary War Unit 3: Foundations of Government and Constitution Unit 4: Early Presidents and the War of 1812 Unit 5: North vs. South - Causes of the Civil War Unit 6: Civil War Unit 7: Reconstruction to 1900 Unit 8: Survey of the 20th Century *Washington D.C.
