BAND AT RCS:
Redlands Christian School has three bands! The Beginner Band is an opportunity for 5th graders to learn how to play an instrument. It focuses on new music skills both for the individual and the ensemble. This band meets three times each week. The 6th Grade Band (Cougar Band) meets twice weekly and hones the students' playing skills. Students in grades 7 and 8 have the opportunity to be involved in the Concert Band program. In order to be involved in this band, the student is required to have taken at least one year of band in the past, or he/she must be able to demonstrate the skills required.
Skills taught in band include beginning and intermediate music theory, focus on blend, and interpretation of music. Individual practice outside of school time is required as well as participation in 5 or more concerts/performances throughout the year.
