Pewaukee High School - Mr. Marty Van Hulle

Marty VanHulle - PHS Principal

Welcome to Pewaukee High School--home of the Pirates. At PHS we pride ourselves on maximizing the academic potential of all students while fostering an environment that promotes positive student citizenship. With strong academic and extracurricular programs, PHS is indeed a "hidden jewel of the Lake Country."

Maximizing Student Success
Back in "The Good Old Days", student success was largely determined by one's ability to memorize academic content. The "sit, git, spit and forgit" method (sit - in one's desk; git - have academic content "poured" into one's head; spit -"regurgitate" academic content on a paper/pencil test; and, forgit - forget the content that was taught and focus on new material) was the norm in most school settings.

Because of the rapidly changing world around us, the simple acquisition of content is but one of the many items that students need in order to thrive in a global economy.

In the Pewaukee School District, we have identified seven "Core Competencies" that we believe lie at the heart of student preparedness:

1. Critical Thinking & Problem Solving 2. Creativity & Innovation 3. Collaboration (The ability to work productively with others) 4. Citizenship 5. Communication (Oral, Written and Visual) 6. Information Technology (The ability to work with electronic information and tools) 7. College & Career Readiness (Mastering relevant academic content and possessing strong employability skills)

It is our strong belief that by focusing on the Core Competencies, we are positioning students for success well beyond high school.
