| Project Valentine |
 PLE is excited to announce that The Real Estate Co, Lake & Country, Inc has again decided to help send Valentines and supplies to our troops. This year "Project Valentine" will be sending these items to Afghanistan. PLE has been a proud supporter of this local event for the past 3 years. Pictured are our student council members packing up all the donatied items. Way to go Pewaukee we surely will let the troops know PLE is a cool place to be!

| 2008-2009 SCHOOL PERFORMANCE REPORT |

All parents and guardians who desire a paper copy of the 2008-2009 School Performance Report (SPR) for Pewaukee Public Schools may request one by e-mailing wongwen@pewaukee.k12.wi.us or calling 262-691-2100, ext. 6526. The 2008-2009 SPR information is not yet available through the Department of Public Instruction, however, when is does become available, you may access it at http://dpi.wi.gob/sig/index.html.

| Dive Into Reading |
 The Olympics are coming to PLE! Children are being challenged to "Dive Into Reading" by Mrs. Ristow and Mr. Vitale and read 252,010 minutes by February 25. If students accomplish this goal, Mrs. Ristow and Mr. Vitale will go into a dunk tank. | Open Enrollment |

Open Enrollment applications will be available beginning at midnight Feb. 1, 2010 on the Department of Public Instruction website. Applications may be submitted online by going to: https://www2.dpi.state.wi.us/OpenEnrollApp
The open enrollment period for the 2010-2011 school year is February 1-19, 2010. In accordance with State Statute, applications cannot be accepted earlier than February 1 or later than February 19 at 4 p.m.. Please contact Julie Toole at 262-691-2100 extension 6037 for additional information.
Due to limited space in four-year-old kindergarten (4K) classrooms, open enrollment is not available for 4K; however, WCTC Tiny Tech, Mary Linsmeier School, and Children's Learning Center may be contacted for availability in their individual off-site 4K programs.

| Preschool Screening |
|
Pewaukee Public Schools offers preschool screening to parents of children 3 or 4 years of age who are not currently enrolled in the early childhood or 4K programs. This screening takes approximately 45 minutes. Through a play based assessment, the Early Childhood and Speech/Language screening staff look at social and communication skills along with small and large muscle development. They are also available as a resource to parents to answer any questions. If you would like your child screened, please contact the Pewaukee Lake Elementary office at 262-691-2100 option 3, #2 to make an appointment. The last screening for the year will take place on Friday, February 19th.

| 2010-2011 Registration Time |

Current 4K students are already registered for five year old kindergarten and do not need to fill out any additional paperwork. If you have a child who will be new to our school next year, you should of received a packet with a sibling. If you did not receive a 5K packet, please call the office. We are currently putting together the 4K packets, if you do not receive a packet by the end of February, please give the office a call. If you know of a neighbor new to the district who would need to register their child for school in the fall, please have them call the school office. Thank you.
