"COLLEGE GOAL WEEKEND"
"College Goal Weekend" is a national event that provides free information and assistance to families who are filling out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), the federally required form for students seeking financial aid, such and grants and loans. Completing the FAFSA is the first and most important step in qualifying for aid.
The closest location for Pewaukee High School students will be held on Saturday, February 20th at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha at 1500 N. University Dr. (Commons Building) Waukesha, WI. The session starts at 2:00 PM.

Students should attend with a parent or guardian, if possible. They should bring specific materials (completed federal income tax return for 2009, W-2 statements, and other 2009 income and/or benefit information). If parents are unable to attend, students may attend alone and bring these materials. This is a really worthwhile information session for families who have never filled out the required financial aid forms (FAFSA) for college.

If you have additional questions, you can go to the website at www.wicollegegoalsunday.org or call the guidance dept. at PHS (262)691-2100 ext. 6010.

WEATHER INFORMATION
If school must be closed due to inclement weather or an emergency, information about the closing will be broadcast over several radio stations. WTMJ is the primary station, but WEMP, WISN and WMYX are also notified. Closings are also available on WTMJ channel 4, and the other local television stations, as well as the district website, www.pewaukee.k12.wi.us

The decision to close schools is influenced by the severity, intensity and movement of the storm center, or the extent of the emergency. School closings or delays are broadcast as soon as possible; by 6:30 AM at the latest. You will also receive a School Messenger phone message to the primary number listed on your child's emergency card.

Please DO NOT CALL school to inquire about closing; tune into the radio, TV or internet. If school must be closed after the school day has begun, the same radio and TV stations will be contacted. Please do not call school to see if we are closing.

WORK PERMITS
Work permits may be purchased in the high school office during normal school hours when school is in session. Students will need a letter from the employer with their address, phone number, type of business, student job title and hours of work. We are also required to have written permission from the students parent or guardian giving them permission to work at the business.

Students are also required to have their ORIGINAL birth certificate, drivers license or original baptismal certificate, as well as their ORIGINAL social security card. COPIES OF ANY OF THE ABOVE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Cost of the permit is $10. Completed permits MAY NOT be available for pick up until the following day. If the office isn't open and you need a permit, La Casa in Waukesha also provides them - call 547-0887.
