An article in THE SUN newspaper caught my attention. I want to share it with you. If you are wondering how to enable your student in their school studies this gives some good objectives.
When your children come home, do you:
a) Ask how school was and then send them to their room to do homework?
b) Ask how school was and continue watching television?
c) Ignore them?
d) Help them with their assignments and suggest fun things to do to enhance what they’re studying?
The correct choice is (d). “Parents set the tone on how their child is going to view education. Make sure they know it’s a priority.” Eleven qualities that will motivate young people are: enthusiasm, adventure, creativity, reflection, balance, compassion, confidence, humor, common sense, appreciation and resilience.
Having manners, respect and compassion for others has been shown to improve test scores. Here are ten tips for taking tests:
1) Make flashcards.
2) Read the summaries of each chapter.
3) Pay close attention to photographs, diagrams and captions.
4) Take note of anything written in bold letters.
5) Read over the notes from class.
6) Review all pop quizzes and chapter tests.
7) Study with a friend.
8) Make sure you have a morning review.
9) Get a good night’s rest.
10) Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
