Pottery

On Monday, June 16, several students ranging in grade levels from 4th to 9th grade, arrived at the W-C art department to begin two weeks of pottery and ceramics with Mr. Lynes. Most of the kids had experienced different forms of making pottery prior to this course. This two-week period would introduce a few more methods and perhaps more detailed construction techniques.

As the course was coming to its end, the students were finishing up pieces they'd started, glazing others and continued exploring the possibilities clay offered. Mr. Lynes is planning on firing them after the weekend of July 4th. A day or two after that, they should be ready for pick-up. The student should call Mrs. Lankey, 464-3165 ext. 123, after the first week in July for information as to when their pots would be ready.

Thanks to all of you who got your children to and from the school over the past two weeks. The kids and Mr. Lynes had a great time.

Thank you Mr. Lynes for teaching a fun class!

Fast ForWord

The Fast ForWord Program is a computer-based reading program that allows students to work at his or her own pace. This program uses game-like activities to practice reading, phonics, spelling and grammar. The students enjoy this program because it feels like a game. They earn points and stars as they advance. This summer, we have over 20 students who decided to become better readers. At times it may get hard but they are all doing an excellent job! Thank you Ms. Hineman for teaching Fast ForWord.
